If you are wondering which artist painted the piece entitled Guernica you should know that it was the Spanish painter Pablo Picasso.

Known as probably Picasso’s most famous work of art, Guernica is a powerful political statement. This masterpiece was painted as a reaction to the Nazi’s bombing practice on the Basque town of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War.

Madrid is home to many art sites. Actually, about half of the art spaces of Spain can be found in Madrid.

This is because some of the private collections owned by aristocrats in Barrio de Salamanca became available to the public after the war. After a while, the art galleries have extended along Paseo de la Castellana.

Something similar happened in the Conde Duque neighbourhood or the Carabanchel neighbourhood who joined this creative and bohemian movement that now boasts many workshops and creative spaces.
