El Retiro Park is undoubtedly one of the most romantic settings in Madrid. For a couple, it is the perfect place to start your trip calmly. Begin the morning with a stroll through the French gardens, continue with a boat ride on the Estanque Grande (Large Pond), and finish by discovering the Palacio de Cristal (Crystal Palace), an idyllic spot for photographing the city’s sunset.

This historic neighborhood, where writers such as Cervantes and Lope de Vega once lived, is perfect for getting lost hand in hand. Its cobbled streets, intimate cafes, and small galleries create a bohemian and charming atmosphere.

We like Madrid more as a city than we expected from friends who have been… Everybody is of course different.  We went to Botin for lunch. I was expecting it to be very touristy and not good, but I was pleasantly surprised.

This ancient Egyptian temple, donated to Spain by the Egyptian government in 1968 as a token of gratitude for Spanish assistance in saving the temples of Nubia during the construction of the Aswan Dam, is now one of the most special spots in the city.

Strolling around it at dusk has something almost magical about it: couples usually arrive early, find a spot on the grass, and settle down to watch the sun sink below the horizon, bathing the ancient stones and the skyline of Madrid in golden light. A simple scene, but deeply romantic.

A flamenco show experienced as a couple—with its heart-wrenching music and powerful dance—becomes an experience that leaves its mark, especially in the tablaos where dinner and art intertwine in an intimate atmosphere.

Afterwards, strolling along the illuminated Gran Vía, with its theaters, shops, and iconic buildings shining like a living postcard, is the perfect way to end an evening that only Madrid can offer.
