This was a spectacular trip, long in planning to Barcelona and the surrounds. Carameltrail provided a solid plan based on our desires; a competitive cost profile; exceptional communication throughout and flawless execution of the plan. We have never had such detailed trip following to ensure each day went as planned.
– The hotel they recommended was wonderfully convenient to the downtown attractions and restaurants. Still, it was off the main tourist path to be comfortable and quiet. It was clean and efficiently managed with attentive service and a complete breakfast bar. There were too many other eating options to take advantage of the hotel’s other food offerings.
– The drivers and guides were punctual and spoke excellent English if needed. They were extremely knowledgeable and very much added to our experience. They all had lovely personalities and were perfect ambassadors for Barcelona, Carameltrail and their local tour businesses. It was like taking a nice visit with good friends.
– Restaurant recommendations were spot on and took us out of the tourist main flow. A lovely taste of Catalan cuisine. We’ve been on several trips organized by different travel companies. Carameltrail is among the top performers in this very capable group.
We had and extensive and informative visit inside La Sagrada Familia to see the genius of Gaudi.
We visited elite wineries but also a local village shop for breakfast where they make and sell wines for 1.5 Euro per liter. This was a fantastic glimpse of local life and into hundreds of years of local wine making.
We spent a day visiting the Cadaques and Figueres towns long loved by Salvador Dali. Another vision into a unique talent in the modern art world.
We toured Roman and Medieval structures and cultures in Girona and took advantage of the efficient Spanish train system to get there and back to Barcelona.
We loved a spectacular demonstration of Flamenco performed by the Grand Gala Flamenco in a most impressive venue, the Palau de la Musica. This was an unforgettable performance.
We toured the Boqueria market with a local chef, purchasing our shrimp, cuttlefish and vegetables to later make a wonderful paella along with tomato bread, gespacho, and crema Catalana. A memorable cooking class.
In all a very special trip for us. Un abrazo fuerte a Angela y Paloma
