The Sahara experience

The Sahara is literally the Greatest Desert on Earth: it covers an extension comparable to the area of the United States! Its name comes from the dialectal Arabic word ṣaḥra that means… desert!

Within the Moroccan border you will have the chance of visiting the famous Erg Chebbi dunes. This part of the Sahara with its orange to pink sand is one of the charms that Morocco shares with visitors from all over the world.

The legend says that some wealthy families refused hospitality to a poor lady and her son during a festivity. This offended God so much –hospitality is in fact one of the characteristics of the Moroccan people – that he buried them under a mound of sand forming the Erg Chebbi dunes.

Despite the tragic legend the truth is that the beauty of the majestic dune rising above the village of Merzouga is absolutely breathtaking!

The best way to reach the Moroccan Sahara is by road. We will take care of your private transportation all through your desert adventure.

While your driver takes you away from the cities into the most rural Morocco you will see how the landscape changes. You will pass by ochre small towns, meadows, mountains and creeks, discovering the diversity of the country.

In Merzouga the tourist industry is blooming so you will find a nice offer of quaint riads for your accommodation. We will suggest a cozy hotel on the feet of the dunes you will enjoy the sights of Erg Chebbi from your room.

We will arrange camel and 4×4 rides to the dunes with our local guides. You will spot the hidden nature of the desert and if you are lucky the nomad people that live in those extreme conditions.

However, the Sahara Desert experience will not be complete until you spend a night in a tent. Of course, we will take care of all the arrangements for this once-in-a-lifetime experience!

You will enjoy the changing color of the sand while the sun sets. For dinner our team will prepare a delicious traditional Moroccan meal that you will eat by the light of the fire. The quietness of the starry night of the desert will be the most memorable experience in your Sahara adventure!
